5 February 2023 — Scare Cancer (Donner la frousse au cancer)
Donner la Frousse au Cancer
Donner la Frousse au Cancer is an annual fundraising campaign to raise funds for the department of radiation oncology at the CHUM. It is an initiative of Dr. Guila Delouya and Dr. David Roberge, two CHUM radiation oncologists who want to give back to their patients. This year, Donner la Frousse au Cancer will be back in its usual form. In partnership with Orangetheory Fitness Griffintown, participants are invited to take on a sporting challenge for a good cause!
Support research in radiation oncology
After two years of postponement, Donner la Frousse au Cancer is back in the form of a face-to-face sports challenge.
This year, Donner la Frousse au Cancer is inviting participants to take on the DriTri challenge, in partnership with Orangetheory Fitness Griffintown, on February 5, 2023. This challenge allows participants to go above and beyond for the cause, while raising funds for radiation oncology.
The challenge is as follows: In teams of 14, participants must complete 2,000 meters of rowing, 300 repetitions of strength training and a 5 km run on the treadmill. The team that completes the challenge in the fastest time will be crowned the winner of the challenge!
Interested parties are invited to register and then create their own social fundraising page to raise funds for radiation oncology. Places are limited.
A minimum of $250 per participant must be raised via the social fundraising page by February 5, 2023.
Thanks to donations collected since 2014, nearly $330,000 has been distributed in the form of merit scholarships for research projects in radiation oncology. Several radiotherapy projects have been funded, ranging from basic research to clinical research. As part of this campaign, each donation received helps fund projects in the department in two distinct axes : improving and personalizing patient care, and research and innovation in radiation oncology.
