9 May 2024 — Canderel Challenge
Take part in the Canderel Challenge
In three decades, the Canderel Challenge has raised more than twenty million dollars, divided equally between the two beneficiaries. This donation is made without earmarking, to give the centers the freedom to invest in their priority projects and to meet their most urgent needs.
Canderel Challenge
The Canderel Challenge was created in 1989 by Mr. Jonathan Wener, President and Founder of Canderel Inc., when his wife Susan was being diagnosed with cancer for the first time. At the time, Mr. Wener was already an accomplished businessman, so he decided to mobilize his network in the service of research by challenging his colleagues and professional partners to fund scientific research and training. He thus created an annual fundraising campaign whose culmination would be a symbolic race in the streets of downtown Montreal for the benefit of two Montreal university research centers: the Rosalind & amp; Cancer Research Center; Morris Goodman of McGill University and the Montreal Cancer Institute.
To date, the Défi Canderel represents the largest donor entity of the Montreal Cancer Institute – which will always be grateful to its founder and his team dedicated to the cause.
For more than 30 years, Mr. Jonathan Wener has been an agent of change in our fight against cancer. With his Défi Canderel, a charity race that takes place every year in downtown Montreal, he raised nearly $ 20 million, divided equally between the Montreal Cancer Institute and the Goodman Cancer Research Center of the ‘McGill University. This important contribution over the years has enabled our talented researchers and their teams to make concrete advances in cancer research and to take one more step to win the battle.
The Institute is proud to present to you this brand new tribute book prepared in honor of Mr. Jonathan Wener. This book is a testimony of our immense gratitude to an exceptional man. THANK YOU Mr. Wener!
