Gerardo Ferbeyre, research member of the Montreal Cancer Institute and his team, will receive, as well as four other scientific teams, a $2.4 million grant over four or five years as part of the 2023 Terry Fox New Frontiers Program Project Grant.
His project aims to prevent resistance to chemotherapy by killing senescent cells, cells that entered a dormant state and stopped dividing.
